Well, IMYC finally conducted some racing yesterday, and did we ever
have SOME WIND.
You know that racing at IMYC has sunk to a new low as I’m pleased to
report to you that yours truly took the first race along with my
deck hand and chief strategist and winch grinder, Jay Schafer. We
had strategery…
We saw speeds coming in at 7.1 knots! Wow! Not bad for two old
guys, and someone that hasn’t won a race in so long that I can’t
even remember when. Bill Andrews & Mick Johnson came in 2nd
with Bill & Roxann Tull finishing 3rd in the first race.
There were many questions about scoring on Saturday after the races,
but I quickly pointed out that it was my laptop doing all the
ciphering… the last three legs of the first race were really close
with a tight grouping. Ted and Bill ended up having a foot race the
last two legs with Bill eating dirty air all the way to the finish
line!
The 2nd race saw the two old guys with nothing left to
prove go back in for a nap, and Ron Nash getting into the action.
Bill Andrews’ Tweety Bird
took top honors with Ron Nash finishing 2nd and the
Tull’s Lil Girl
finishing 3rd.
Afterwards, Ron Nash treated the racers to grilled Brat’s and
Sausage Dogs with potato salad and chips! Yummy after a hard day’s
sailing. Thanks for the hospitality, Ron!
No racing pics cause I somehow had locked my chip out on my camera,
but believe me, there were plenty of round ups and ears in the water
yesterday…
